As the World Turns

the world turns so slow we barely notice
     the world turns so slow that it's boring
              so we drink
                   or fuck
                       or pray
                            or do nothing
                                that seems like 
                                    something
                          to make sense of the time
the world turns so fast
           we cling to almost anything
                 to keep from getting thrown off
              so we drink
                   or fuck
                       or pray
                            or do nothing
                               that seems like
                                   something
                          just to keep a grip on things
i wish there was more to it
     for all of us
          but i don't think there is
