but it's the dumber rats
poisoned
by ancient notions
of self
and trapped
by their politics
and mysticism
that keep breeding

these dumb
rats
reproducing
more scared
and stupid
rats
terrorized
by the traps
to commit suicide
terrorized
by the poisons
to commit murder

these dumb rats
smart enough
to know
all the traps and poisons
but too stupid
for understanding
any ways
of avoiding 
them
