fear of the light
        and the dark
fear of the known
        as well as
               the unknown

so many things
to fear
so many things
to horrifically
confront

or
simply displace
misguided fear
with similarly misguided
anger
directed at
what need to be
the known
tangible objects
of our hate

anger
a much better feeling
giving us
faces to loathe
instead of specters to fear
and leading us
to pummel and kill
in heroic battles
with conclusions
instead of fear's
endlessly recurring
humiliation and torment
like tantalus
but of us
forever
pissing our beds
