He said any recognition or awards for his writing would be like icing on the cake.
Then he said, “Wait a minute. I need to take that back. That implies my life’s been cake, and it’s not.”
“Then what’s it been like?” I asked.
“Recognition would be like a clean, first wipe after a moist shit,” he said.
“That’s very eloquent,” I said. “More raw. More true.”
“Thanks,” he said. “Now let’s hope the recognition starts rolling in.”
