Faced Glory

whenever
i go to the gym
there's usually 
a dude
a different dude
wearing a shirt
of some iteration
of a faux
distressed flag
usually
in black and white
instead
of red, white and blue

sometimes
this flag
in black and white
is horizonal
and printed
to pretend
the flag
is tattered
and worn

it's so common
that now
i always look 
for some dude
in a shirt
where the flag
was once pristine
and crisp
in the old
red, white and blue
and its distress
is real
from all his hours
in the gym
instead of mimicked
and cheaply
manufactured

i keep looking
it's been months
and i've still
not found it
yet
