Essence of Love

the essence of love
is that i dislike you less
than i dislike 
most others

the essence of love
is that i 
can tolerate you
more than 
most others

the essence of love
is that i 
can 
at least respect you
more than
most others

the essence of love
is that i
can
at least trust you
more than
most others

the essence of love
is that you're 
not as dumb
as most
others

the essence of love
is that
you
know how and when
to leave me
alone

the essence of love
is in the freedom
you know how 
and when
to give

the essence of love
is your shit
i've grown to accept
like going bald

she said
all the same
she could say
about me

that's when
we both knew
maybe we'd found
true love
