Revenge

all the words
all the labor
all the similes
and metaphor
character and
detail and
pointless
meandering
plots
are nothing
but a glorified
cowardly
act of revenge

revenge
against those
who've wronged
but more
than a petty revenge
when it's disguised
as art
hidden
in poetry
and prose

a cowardly
spiteful act
of mannered revenge
compared
to a tent spike
driven
through the skull
of an enemy

fanciful
and artful
perhaps
but a petty
revenge
nonetheless
a sinful
vengeance
he devoted his life to
that when the accolades
that would have validated
his lifelong
petty act of revenge
never came
he was left
with nothing
but the hell
of his spite
artfully disguised
in his wicked
and artfully
vindictive
prose
